Seamless update of database structure

One of our most requested features since the inception of the Component Creator has been the ability to update the database structure on existing (already installed) components. Today we are happy to announce the immediate release of this very useful feature.

In the past, to update an existing component with data you had to:
  1. Export your data using a database management tool
  2. Uninstall the previous version of the component
  3. Install the new version
  4. Import your old data (and hope the changes did not break the import script)
With our new update functionality any additions, deletions or renaming of tables are applied automatically. All you have to do is reinstall the component.

Search plugin for front end searching

Each component now includes a search plugin that allows automatic search of your list items in the built in Joomla search feature. Meaning that you can now search for the items from your component as well as joomla content items etc.

Thanks for the update, however I do have a couple questions for you regarding the Frontend search.

I looked at the structure of the component in the zip file and the plugin is there, however the plugin doesn't install.  I also looked at the plugin php file and it doesn't appear to have any of the queries to actually do the search.  Is there somewhere in the component creator that I need to set what fields are searched or is this just a base framework to build on for the search plugin?

Either way, you have saved countless hours.

Thanks,

Jon

Hello Jon,

There was a small bug we have just solved, thanks for reporting it.

Please note that the search plugin will only be installed on Premium components.

Regards,

Andrés.

Hi, I'm new to JCC but it is really amazing!! Thx a lot.

I did a small project, (v. 1.0.0) and today made new version (1.0.1)  including som DB changes. As to this announcement I should just reinstall - but not so. No DB changes implemented. Is this a Premium feature only??

Hi Frank

Yes, this was a major feature we released so it is only for Premium Users. Hope it's useful enough for you to become Premium :)
