Cascading drop-down list skapades av Olaf Bieler
Hello there,
is there any way to realize a cascading drop-down list (for backend use)? I've managed to create a drop-down element (by SQL select) which is filled with the names of all the countries from one table. Now I would like to select a city from the next drop-down list which should only show the cities from this particular country.
I've seen this many time before (and used it with other tools). But I've no idea how to do this with Component Creator.

This requires some tricky coding. I too was hoping there was a way with component-creator. So far the best I've found on this is forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=715&t=812449

Hi,
is there any "in-house" solution with the creator?
I have the following:
Persons
- Michael
- Sonja
- Sebastian
Groups:
- Marketing
- Design
- Print
Sectors:
- Foo (belongs to Marketing)
- Bar (belongs to Design)
So now I want to add a Person "John" and select the Group "Design".
Then I want to select a "Sector", but only these sectors that belong to the "Design" Group.
How can I do that?
Thanks!
Tobias

I think i got it!
I now use only one table and one filed is the "joomla category" field. it enables you the possibility to usw categories and subcategories for your component. thats great!
